I was 12 I think when I first joined Kinney Karate and met Michael Kinney. It wasn't long before I knew him to be a man of strength and character. He and the school he built would go on to be the major force shaping my life. I was 15 when I started teaching for him and 16 when I earned my 1st-degree black belt. It was through Kinney Karate that I met my wife. We met when I was 20 and started dating when I was 23. We married when I was 26. I am now a 7th-degree black belt with over 20 years of experience teaching and guiding people,, trying to improve their lives. I owe everything I have to Michael Kinney and Kinney Karate. It is in his memory that we started this scholarship fund in an attempt to spread the same opportunity I received to anyone with the desire to pursue it.
